This is a different world we live in now.
Boxing is the best example of how we fight still. We throw a left and while they're covering, we hit them with a right. If they can take it or slip it, they may come back with a left hook. and knock us out.
We send in two detectives to interrogate a criminal. We use the good cop, bad cop routine. The bad cop roughs up the criminal; the good cop goes in with a friendly approach and attempts to secure the confession.
We send in a military unit as a decoy to mislead the enemy; then we send in another force from an unexpected angle to annihilate the enemy.
All these tactics have worked for us, but today we live in the world of the suicide bombers. Our enemies don't care if we outsmart them; they have the element of chaos and the illogical response on their side. How do we fight now?
For over two centuries, our democracy has worked because we elect one party to help the poor and the other party to help the rich; one to negotiate for labor, the other for management.
We elect one representative to reward one state at the cost of the other and then we switch and help the other state when another representative complains of unfair treatment.
One senator is against a treaty with one country; the other one is for it. We keep them guessing and we win in the end.
The Japanese envoy was kept waiting by the State Department until the Japanese force was on its way to strike at Pearl Harbor and then we said that the Japanese attacked without warning.
Our policies have changed from administration to administration. Our foes and allies are confused alike about our policy; one year it's this way, the next year it's that way. We feign innocence, and when things don't work out, we blame the Intelligence services. It's the old one-two punch, but now it's not working like it used to. Our allies are totally confused and our public are numb and alienated. What do we do now?
It's time for another fighting strategy. The one-two punch still works, but in the boxing ring for the most part. The world is too sophisticated for us to try and fool everybody.
In my opinion, what we need is a mature approach, a three dimensional approach. We need to accept the reality of the situation in the world. We've alienated a lot of people, we've taken sides based on our own beliefs and we've pretended that we care about other people's welfare. We don't, we never have, but maybe we should in the future. We are a great nation because we've been blessed with a beautiful land full of natural resources. It's the last continent that was discovered not too long ago, a mere five hundred years. There aren't any more land masses to be discovered, now that we've circumvented the whole world. Only Mars and Venus remain and they're out of our reach for a few centuries, for all practical purposes. There's really nothing we can do now, except for setting the world in order by playing fair. The first rule of fairness is not to use food as a weapon in politics. Only savages do that. That means no sanctions against starving nations to punish a ruler, because the ruler will always live, but the people will starve. Sanctions don't work. We've seen many examples of that in recent years. We did the right thing by ousting Saddam Hussein and ending the sanctions. That was the right policy and only one man is responsible for carrying it out, and we all know who that man is, it's our President George W. Bush. Moreover, I believe the reason he did it is because he holds Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Of course, many people have rallied to his support, and without the US Military, we could've never done it; but it took one man to call the shot that brought freedom to Iraq and Afghanistan, and in the future to all the oppressed peoples of the world. We can't take on the whole world, but one by one every nation will realize that freedom and democracy are the best course for peace.
Therefore, the third dimension is the moral fiber that makes our one-two punch into a powerful force. It's not enough to be tough or kind, to punish or reward; we need to take a moral stand. Ultimately, if we're to succeed as a nation in becoming a beacon of hope for other nations as they achieve freedom and prosperity for their people, we need to say and do the right thing. We can't be divided in our international politics; we need to have one policy regardless of party affiliation.
We can't play games with God and Country. Let's become a mature people. Let our yes be yes and our no be no, just as Jesus taught his disciples. The United States of America has worked as a nation because we had one moral stance. We all know what that was; it was based on the Bible. If we discard the Bible from our laws, as the Supreme Court has ruled lately, we'll end up with chaos. This is not apparent now because we're still on autopilot, so to speak, and this is due to what our founding fathers wrote into the Constitution. It's only subliminal at this point, as the atheists among us are trying to convince us that the mention of God in the Declaration of Independence was superfluous, a mere aberration of the religious upbringing of our founding fathers. However, this is not the case. The mention of God by our founding fathers is significant. We can't discard the last vestiges of our faith in God and survive. We'll end up like spacemen after their space suits have punctured.
