A Free Thinker's Web Log

All we have is this freedom, which does carry with it some responsibility. As long as we don't impinge on someone else's freedom, we can express ourselves freely. This blog will serve as my blogger journal. I try to stay open to ideas. I don't think there's anything wrong with changing one's mind, but there have to be some fundamental beliefs that remain true.

A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand

It is amazing how the wounds of the Civil War never seem to heal. Here we are again experiencing the debilitating hatred between the Democrats and the Republicans. It is hard to believe that we are living in the same country. For some people this is what democracy is all about, but what I see is America unraveling before the face of its enemies.

The terrorists are now blowing up buses in London and attacking Western subway systems in Europe with suicide bombers. This is seen as an expansion of the war against the West by some news commentators, but I see it as an epidemic of terrorism against the civilized world.

The leftists and the liberals are calling for appeasement, the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and the curtailment of the war against international terrorism. This cowardice in the face of the enemy will lead to defeat, and this defeat is not a term of political semantics, like the defeat we suffered in Vietnam. Withdrawing from Iraq and abandoning the war against international terrorism will flame the fires of hatred against the West and its form of Christianity.

Many political pundits think that the war being waged against the US and its coalition forces in Iraq is a war of Islamic extremists against Western Christianity and its support of Israel. I do not think so. The suicide bombers and the so-called insurgents in Iraq are fighting the Western free enterprise system. Western Christianity uses the moral authority of the Bible only in the name of economic prosperity. For Western Christianity money is a blessing and a sign of God's favor. For the enemies of the Western World, the economic power of the West means that the Third World will always be the slave of the West.

While the Democrats and the Republicans fight over who dominates Congress and whose constituents will enjoy the lion's share of the revenues of commerce, the terrorists will continue to whittle away at the foundations of freedom and the financial systems of the World. For the terrorists it does not matter to whom these financial interests belong.

For people of faith throughout the world, the well-being of humanity depends on a sense of unity and resolve. To defeat the enemies of freedom, the American people must deal with their Civil War wounds and come to terms with their fractured religious values. Religious freedom is good for everyone living in the US, but the religious freedom of all Americans cannot be protected if the dominant Christian culture cannot exercise its freedom of religion. The US cannot survive as a nation if Christianity is thrown to the dogs.

A Final Note to this Weblog

In the end, it's what we do, not what we say.

Hope you enjoyed reading my web log. It wasn't meant to be earth-shattering, just some random ideas in my journey of life -- vic@v-a.com.
