1. Why, do we thus say that Abraham became
the chief of our ancestors through the flesh?
2. For if then Abraham was sanctified through his performance, he would have had
pride, except not with God.
3. For, what did Scriptures say? That Abraham believed in God and it rendered him
holy.
4. For those who perform the works, their due is not reckoned according to how well
they did, except [according to their] submission to him.
5. For those who do not perform the works, however, except only believe in whom expiates
sins, their faith is rendered onto righteousness.
6. Whereas David also said about the goodness of man, who God considers holy without
the performance of acts, as he said,
7. "Blessed are they whose abomination was
forgiven,
and whose sins were covered.
8. "And blessed is the man that God did not consider his sin."
9. This then is a blessing for the circumcised
or the uncircumcised? For we say that Abraham's faith was rendered onto righteousness.
10. Therefore, was he rendered such through circumcision or no-circumcision? No,
it was not through circumcision, except through non-circumcision.
11. For he received the miracle of circumcision, and the seal of righteousness by
not being circumcised, to be a father for all those who believed from the uncircumcised,
so they may also be reckoned among the righteous.
12. And a father in circumcision he was not to those from the circumcised alone,
except also to those who followed in the heels of faith with our father Abraham's
[state outside of circumcision.]*
13. For it was not through the Law that the Kingdom* was to be inherited forever*
by Abraham and his seed, except through the righteousness of faith.
14. For if they were heirs [as a result] of the Law, faith would have been unnecessary
and the Kingdom would have been abolished.
15. For the Law is the manifestation* of wrath, for while there is no Law, neither
is the Law transgressed.
16, Because of this it is through the faith in grace that one is sanctified, so that
the Kingdom may truly be inherited by [Abraham's] seed, not to those [who are descended
from him] according to the Law only, except also to those who are of Abraham's faith,
who is a father for all of us.
17. Whereas it is written in Scriptures,
"I consecrated you father of many nations
that you believe in who raises the Dead,
And calls upon those who do not exist
and they exist.*
18. "And without hope, to believe in hope,"
so as to be the father of many nations,
as it is written in Scriptures,
"Thus will be your seed."
19. And it did not affect his faith, as his
dead body was strengthened, that he was one hundred years old, and that Sarah's womb
was dead.
20. And he did not doubt* in the Kingdom of God, as one lacking in faith, and he
glorified God.
21. And he upheld that what God commissioned him to do could be achieved.
22. Because of that it was reckoned to him toward righteousness.
23. And it was not for his sake alone that this was written in scriptures, that his
faith would be reckoned onto righteousness,
24. Except, also for our sake, that for us also it was destined to be reckoned as
those who believe in the One who raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the Deed*,
25. That he be delivered because of our sins and rise in order to sanctify us.

are."
