The Portrayal of Christians in Movies

Last night I was watching THE ROBE. It's a movie made during the mid-50s, starring Richard Burton, Victor Mature, Jean Simmons, and other Hollywood actors. It was produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille. I noticed that the theology of the movie was typical of Protestantism. The miracles were played down; everything was as if they didn't want to offend anyone.

It's been fifty years since I last saw this movie, but what I noticed this time was that there was not one single Middle Eastern or African convert in the whole story. I realized at once that the theology was also completely false, and it's no wonder. According to Western Christianity, the only Christians were of European origin. All of Eastern Christianity is supposed to be heretical. This is why very few people accept the fact that the Bible was originated in the Hebrew-Aramaic language of the Jews and the Aramaic speaking peoples of the Middle East at the time of Jesus.

This is the opinion of Western churches in general to this day. It's as if Eastern Christianity doesn't exist. Personally, I think this trend to ignore Eastern Christianity smacks of racism.
