Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians
1 Corinthians 1
1. Paul, called to be the apostle* of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and brother Sosthenes:
2. To the church of God in Corinth, the called and sanctified, blessed through Jesus Christ, and to all those who go by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ* in every country, theirs and ours,
3. Grace be with you and peace from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ.*
4. I confess to God in every season on your behalf, about the grace of God that He has given you through Jesus Christ,
5. That you may be enriched through him, with every word and with all knowledge,
6. As the testimony of Christ is confirmed through you,
7. So that you are not lacking in a single of his endowments, except are held by the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8. So you are a partaker until the very end, that you may not be in guilt on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9. Faithful is the God by whose hand you were called to the wedding feast of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
10. I pray, brethren,* in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that he endows you with one Manifestation, and that there may not be among you divisiveness, except that you may be confirmed in one faith,* and in one accord.
11. Apostles came to me, brethren, from a reliable source and informed me that there are destructive people among you.*
12. This, however, I say, there are among you those that say, "I am Paul's," and there are some that say, "I am Apollos's," and there are those that say, "I am Keepa's,"* and there are those that say, "I am Jesus'."
13. Why, are we going to divide Jesus between us? Why, was Paul crucified on your behalf?* Or was it by the name of Paul you were baptized?
14. I confess to God that I did not baptize anyone,* except Crispus and Gaius.
15. Let no one give my name as the one who baptized them.*
16. However, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides that I do not know another human being I may have baptized.
17. Jesus did not send me to baptize, except to preach the Hope [of the Kingdom.] Not through the wisdom of words, so that the Cross of Cross may not be rendered empty.
18. For the Manifestation of the Cross to the lost souls is foolishness. However, to us, who have been brought back to Life, He is the Power of God.
19. For it is written in Scriptures that He shall obliterate the wisdom of the wise and warp the minds of the learned.
20. Where is the wise? Or, where is the scribe? Or, where is the debater of this world*? Behold, did not God turn the wisdom of the world into contentiousness?
21. For because of the wisdom of God, the world* cannot know through the wisdom of God. It is God's will that through contentious preaching, He shall impart Life everlasting to those who believe.
22. Because the Jews ask for signs, and the Aramaeans* pray for wisdom.
23. We, however, preach Christ as crucified. To the Jews, a stumbling block, and to the Aramaeans, contention.
24. However, for those called, Jews and Aramaeans, Christ is the Power of God and the wisdom of God.
25. Because the contention of God is wisdom from humanity and the sorrowing of God emanates as power from human beings.
26. For look also at who are called among you, brethren, not many of you are wise in the flesh, and not many of you are strong, and not many of you belong to a great dynasty.
27. Except God has chosen the foolish of the world to be wise and He has chosen the sick of the world to be the strong.
28. And He has chosen those who lack a dynasty in the world, and the denigrated and the have nots, and abolished those who were established.
29. So that no flesh boasts in front of Him.
30. Also, you are from Him through Jesus Christ, who is our wisdom from God and holiness and saintliness and salvation.
31. As it is written in Scriptures,"Whoever is glorified, through the Lord is glorified."

1 Corinthians 2
1. And I, my brethren, come to you neither with great speeches, nor with wisdom do I preach to you the sermon of God.
2. And I do not judge myself among you like I know something, except for Jesus Christ, also [Jesus] as he was on the cross.
3. And I come to you with much fear and trembling.
4. And my manifestation and preaching are not through deliverance by words of wisdom, except through the revelation of the Spirit and power.
5. So as your faith may not be in the service of humanity, except through the power of God.
6. Wisdom, however, we speak of among those who are mature, neither the wisdom of this world, nor of the authorities of this world which shall come to naught,
7. Except we speak the wisdom of God through the sermon that was hidden and which God had chosen from before [the foundations of] the universe, for our glorification.
8. That which not one of the authorities of this world know about, for if they know it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.
9. Except as it is written in Scriptures,No eye has seen and no ear has heard, and the human heart has not perceived,
that which God has consecrated for those who have mercy on him.*10. To us, however, God revealed it through His Spirit, for the Spirit can fathom anything, even the depths of God.
11. For which human being knows what it is to be human, if it were not for the human spirit within them. Likewise no human being knows about God, except for the Spirit of God.
12. We, however, did not receive the spirit of the world, except [we received] the Spirit from God, in order that we may know the endowment we received from God.
13. Even these things that we speak, are not through the knowledge of words, by human wisdom, except through the enlightenment of the Spirit, and regarding spirits we have contemplated spiritually.
14. For the human being is a lone soul and [human beings] cannot receive that which is spiritual*, for that causes contention* in them, and they cannot comprehend how to judge the spiritual.
15. The holy Spirit, however, judges everything, and He cannot be judged by any human being.
16. For who understands the Lord's perception, so as to teach Him? We, however, have Christ's perception.

*1 Cor 2:14.2 Lit. Ar. idiom retained: "Redundancy."
1 Corinthians 3
1. And I, brethren, do not find it advisable that we should converse as spirits, except as people in the flesh and as children in Christ.
2. You were given milk to drink, and you were not given food to eat. For neither were you ready then, nor are you now.
3. For you are still in the flesh, wherefore there is strife, destructive practices and divisions among you, are you not bodies walking in the flesh?
4. For why is it that some of you say to the other,* "I am Paul's," and another says, "I am Apollos," are you not in the flesh?
5. For who is Paul, or who is Apollo, except servants through whose hands you have believed, and every human being* as the Lord has given them the ministry?
6. I plant and Apollo irrigates, except it is God who nurtures.
7. Thus, neither that which is planted amounts to anything, nor that which is irrigated, except that which God nurtures.
8. However, the one who plants and the one who irrigates are one, and a human being receives compensation according to his rate.
9. For we are working with God, and you are God's labor and His laborers:
10. And according to the grace of God, given to me, I consecrated a foundation like a wise architect, upon which others would build. Every human being then should see where upon to build.
11. For no other foundation can be derived from that which is already set, no human being can erect it, that which is [already set by] Jesus Christ.*
12. And if a human being builds upon this foundation in gold, silver or precious stones, or wood, brick or bamboo,
13. Every human being's deeds shall be revealed. For daylight shall reveal it, because by the fire it will be revealed, and the deeds of each human being shall be separated by the fire.
14. And the one whose deeds remain shall receive his wages.
15. And the one whose deeds burn off, shall lose out. They shall be consumed like the fire itself.
16. Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17. And whoever shatters God's temple, God will shatter them. For holy is God's temple that is you.
18. Let no human being deceive themselves. Whoever among you hopes to be wise in this world, they must become a fool in order to be wise.
19. For the wisdom of this world is dumb according* to God. For it is written in Scriptures,"He traps them in their own point of view."
20. And again, the Lord knows their pretensions, that they are wise in [the knowledge] of the trivial.
21. Because of this let no human being exult in themselves, for everything is of your own,
22. Whether Paul or Apollo or Keepa [Peter] or the world, or life everlasting or Death, and whether they arise or are destined -- everything is yours.
23. Yet, you belong to Christ, and Christ is God.*
Footnotes:*1 Cor 3:4 Lit. Ar. idiomatic expression: "Human being, human being from you."
*1 Cor 3:5 Lit. Ar. idiomatic figure of speech: "Human being, human being."
*1 Cor 3:11 Lit Ar. idiomatic construction retained: Christianity's foundation is a spiritual edifice.
*1 Cor 3:19 Lit. Ar. id.: "With."
*1 Cor 3:23 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "And you, of Christ and Christ, of the God."
1 Corinthians 4
1. Thus you should regard yourselves like servants of Christ, and masters of the houses of God's sermon.
2. Therefore, where in loyal members of the house masters dwell, is where believers are to be found.
3. For me, however, it is demeaning that I should judge any of you. Or to be judged by any human being. Except I should not even judge myself.
4. For there is nothing of my own that makes me worthy. Nor am I sanctified by anything [I do,] for the Lord is my judge.
5. Because of that do not judge in advance, before the Lord has returned,* He who illuminates the dark, hidden deeds reveals the pretensions of the heart.
6. These things, my brethren, that I have taken upon myself and Apollo, however, are for your sake, so you will learn through us that you should not look beyond what is written in Scriptures, and that no human being should feel superior to their companion.
7. For who is perfect? Or what is it that you have that you did not receive it from someone? And if you thus received it, why are you boasting as if you did not receive it?
8. Since when did you eat your fill and become satisfied, and so accustomed to rule? Come, share your reign with us, so we too can rule with you.*
9. I suppose, however, that we were destined to become apostles, God having consecrated us to be last, to die as a universal theater, for angels and for humanity.
10*. We struggled because of Christ, so you could be wise in Christ. We became poor in health, you became strong. You receive praise, we were cursed.
11. We hungered and thirsted for this very hour, and went naked* and beaten and we have no place to stand,*
12. And we lamented as we had to work with our bare hands; they cursed us and we blessed them. They cast us out, and we preached the Hope [of the Kingdom.]
13. They spat on us and we begged them. We have become the treading ground of the whole world,* and the object of everyone's* blasphemy until now.
14. It is not like I want to embarrass you that I write you these things, except it is like a warning to wise children.
15. For you may have many individuals in Christ, except not many parents. For you were born again through Christ Jesus by my preaching.
16. Therefore, I want you to resemble me.
17. Because of this I am sending you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, to bring you into conformity of my ways in Christ, according to what I teach in all the churches.
18. I deliberately do not come to you myself, so no one among you may think that I am coming on account of them.*
19. Except, Lord willing,* I will be coming to you soon. And I know not the manifestation of those who exalt themselves, except their authority.
20. For the Kingdom of God is not through manifestations, except through Power.
21. What do you wish, that I come to you with a staff or with love and a gentle spirit?
Footnotes:*1 Cor 4:5 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "Because of this not before season become judges: until there comes the Lord."
*1 Cor 4:6 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "These then, my brethren, because of you I have consecrated upon my face and Apollo's, so through us you learn not to look more from what is Written, and human being over his companion should not rise because of human being."
*1 Cor 4:8 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "From whence satisfied yourself and become rich, and routinely you reign. Associate however your kingship that also we can reign with you."
*1 Cor 4:10 With this passage, Paul signals the end of the Apostolic Age.
*1 Cor 4:11.1 Lit. Ar. idiomatic expression retained: "Deprived ourselves."
*1 Cor 4:11.2 Lit. Ar. idiomatic expression retained: "Have deprived ourselves of home, or houses."
*1 Cor 4:13.1 Lit. Ar. id.: "Universe."
*1 Cor 4:13.2 Lit. Ar. id.: "Every human [being.]"
*1 Cor 4:18 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "Like him then that I do not come I to you, oblige you human being from you."
*1 Cor 4:19 Lit. Ar. idiomatic expression: "If the Lord wishes."
1 Corinthians 5
1. Even though adultery has been reported among you, and such adultery that for which not even the pagans are known, when a son has taken his father's wife in marriage.*
2. And yet you boast, and you no longer sit in mourning, so as this person who performed this accursed act then may be removed from your midst.
3. For I who am far from you in body and close to you in spirit, from long ago have been judged as a companion to him that has thus blasphemed,
4. So as you may all come together in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and I with you in spirit, by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5. And that you may deliver this [blasphemer] to Satan, abandoning his flesh to oblivion, so as he may be revived in spirit on the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
6. Your boasting is unbecoming; do you not know that a little leaven leavens all the dough?
7. Clean out your old leaven, so you may become a new mixture, as you are the unleavened bread. For our Passover is the Christ who was slaughtered on our behalf.
8. Because of this we celebrate the feast, not with the old leaven, and not with the leaven of evil doing and bitterness, except with the leaven of purity and holiness.
9. I am writing you in a letter, that you should not make the same mistake with adulterers.
10. I did not say this, however, regarding the adulterers of this world, or cheaters or robbers, or idol makers, otherwise* you would have to also leave this world.
11. I write you this, however, so you do not make the [same] mistake, if someone is called a brother, who is an adulterer or cheater or idol maker or curser or drunkard or robber, with such a person, do not even eat bread.
12. For what is it to me, to judge an outsider? You should then judge the one who is inside.
13. To the outsider then, God will be the judge. And [so] remove the evil doer from between yourselves.
Footnotes:*1 Cor 5:1 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction retained: "The son takes the father's wife as his own."
*1 Cor 5:10 Lit. Ar. idiomatic figure of speech: "And if not."
1 Corinthians 6
1. Does a human being, while having a dispute* with his brother, dare to stand judgment before the workers of abomination and not before the saints?
2. Or perhaps you did not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by your peers, are you not worthy to condemn those who trivialize such judgment?*
3. Do you not know that we shall judge the messengers? Are not some of them of this world?
4. Except if you can judge the world, to him that jeopardizes the church you have seated as judge!
5. I appeal to your scruples, however. For is there none wise enough among you who can thus sanction his brother?*
6. Except, a brother will be judged with his brother, and this again before non-believers.
7. From long ago you have shared obligation through your triune essence, that you are in judgment, one with the other, for is it not because of this that you do not turn* against each other? And is it not because of this that you are not in agony?
8. Except you have also cheated and put your brother through agony.
9. Or did you not know that [workers] of abomination will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be at a loss. Neither adulterers, nor idol makers, nor fornicators, nor perverts, nor child molesters,*
10. And neither [workers] of abomination, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor cursers, nor robbers, these shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
11. And these are to be found among you,* except you are cleansed* and sanctified and made righteous in the name of our: Lord Jesus Christ and in His Spirit of God.
12. I am subject to everything in the Law,* except not everything presents a problem for me.* I am subject to everything in the Law, except no human being has authority over me.
13. Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, however, God has canceled both of them. The body is then not for fornication, except it is for our Lord, and our Lord is [the Lord] of the body.
14. God then and our Lord raised Him, and He shall raise us by his* power.
15. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Can you take a member of Christ and turn him into a slave of prostitution? Perish the thought.
16. Or did you not know that whoever clings to a prostitute, becomes one body [with her?] For it is Said that both of them become one body.
17. Whoever clings to our Lord, however, becomes one Spirit with him.
18. Flee from prostitution. For every sin that sends a human being to oblivion is outside the body.
19. Whoever fornicates then, is sinning with their body. Or did you not know that your body is the temple of the holy Spirit, that which dwells in you, He Whom you receive from God and did not come about from yourselves?
20. For you were bought with tears of blood. Therefore, glorify God with your body and soul, these that are of God.

*1 Cor 6:7 Lit. Ar. idiomatic figure of speech: "Cheat."

1 Corinthians 7
1. And about what you wrote to me, it would have been better* if that man had not taken the woman in marriage.
2. Except for purposes* of fornicating,* the man took the woman as wife, and the woman took the man.
3. The husband is obliged to pay his wife for that love. And likewise that wife also to her husband.
4. The wife no longer has the right over her body, except her husband does. Likewise the husband has no right over his body, except his wife does.*
5. Do not abuse one another like this, except when* you both deem it fitting, when later you intend to fast and pray, and then you again return to intercourse, so Satan will not put you through temptation because of the desire of your body.
6. This I tell you according to my own thinking, not as a commandment.
7. For I wish that all humanity were like me in purity. Except every human being has been endowed by God, some like this and some like that.
8. I say to those that have no women and to the widows, that it would be more liberating if they would remain celibate* like me.
9. If they are not preaching [the Kingdom,] then let them get married.* For it is better to go out and marry a woman than to burn with desire.
10. To those who have women, I command, not I of course except my Lord, that a wife should not separate from her husband.
11. And if she separates, she should maintain herself without a man nor look for a man, and a man must not leave his wife.
12. To the others I say, me, not my Lord, if a brother has a wife who is not a believer, and she wishes to live with him, he does not have to leave her.
13. And the wife who has a husband who does not believe and he wishes to live with her, she does not have to leave her husband.
14. For that man who does not believe is blessed through the wife who does believe, and the wife who does not believe is blessed through the man who believes; and if not,* their children are possessed. However, now they are cleansed.
15. If, however, he that does not believe, separates, let him separate. Neither the brother or the sister are held accountable* toward [unbelievers.] God has called us to peace.
16. For how shall you, wife, know if your husband will achieve eternal life? Or how shall you, husband, know if your wife will achieve eternal life?
17. Except it is according to how the Lord divides each human being's portion to each, and according to how God has called each human being, thus proceeds each person. And to all the churches I urge* you to follow likewise.
18. If a man* is Called, he will not revert to uncircumcision. And if he is Called while circumcised, he will not be circumcised.
19. For being circumcised is nothing, neither is being uncircumcised, outside of* guarding the commandment of God.
20. Every human being who is Called through the Calling, is strengthened by it.
21. If you are Called while a slave, do not be shocked.* Except, even if you manage to become free [of slavery,] choose to work. For when a slave is Called by our Lord, they are free according to God.
22. Likewise, they who are Called after being freed, become the servant* of Christ.
23. You were bought through tears of blood, do not become servants* of humanity.
24. As every human being out of their calling are Called [to eternal life,] brethren, they are strengthened through that calling to God.
25. Regarding virginity, I did not receive the commandment from God, however, I give my counsel as a man who is [endowed by] serenity from God to be faithful.
26. And I preach that this is preferable,* because of of the demands of this age, that a person is better off being like this.
27. If you are married,* do not think of divorce.* If you are separated from a wife, do not look for a wife.*
28. And if you wish to take on a wife, you are not sinning, and if a virgin takes on that man, she is not sinning, for this is how [formerly married] people come to agonize about their bodies.* I, therefore, forbid you from doing this [kind of marrying.]
29. And this I say, brethren, that henceforth this age is grating, as such those who have women become like they do not [have women,]
30. And those who are crying, like they are not crying, and those who are happy, like they are not happy, and those who buy like they are not profiting,
31. And those that are deemed worthy in this world, are not beyond the blessings of worthiness,* for this world's scheme [of things] have been transcended.
32. Because of this I wish for you to be aloof.* For the one who has no wife, let him concern himself with his lord, as to how to praise his lord.
33. And the one who has a wife, let him overcome the worldly concerns with regard to how he may appreciate* his wife.
34. There is a difference, however, between a wife [with respect] to a virgin. She that did not take a husband, let her concern herself with her lord, so he may be blessed in body and spirit. And the one who has a husband, let her concern herself with the world, as to how she may appreciate her husband.
35. This then that I say is for the sake of helping you. It was not to impose impossible constraints upon you,* except so as you may be faithful to your lord in a proper manner,* while you are not concerned with the world.
36. If people* expect that fun will be made of their virginity, that time* is passing and they are not married, and if it is duly permissible for them to do as they wish? They are not sinning, let them get married.
37. If, however, somebody truly resolves in their mind and are not tormented by desire and are in control of their will, and thus decide in their heart to preserve their virginity, they do well.
38. And those who thus surrender their virginity do well.* And those who do not give away their virginity do even better.
39. However long a wife's husband lives, she is tied to the Law. If, however, her husband dies,* she is free to be who's so ever she wants, completely in our Lord.
40. Blessed are they that are thus strengthened, according to my thinking. For I expect that I too have the Spirit of God in me.

1 Corinthians 8
1. Regarding the sacrifices to images,* we know that we all have imagination, and imagination pays homage, but love is fortifying.
2. If human beings, however, expect to understand the imaginary thing, they cannot perceive it as it is Lawfully supposed to be.
3. If, however, a human being loves God, this will be perceived in them.
4. Regarding the food, therefore, of the sacrifices to images, we know that the imaginary thing is nothing in the real world,* and that there is no God except for One.
5. For even there are those that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, whereas there are supposedly many gods and many lords.
6. Except not for us, for one is God the Father,
That everything is from Him and we are in Him,
And one is Lord Jesus Christ, that everything is in His hand.*
7. Except not every human being has that imagination. For there are human beings who, through their conscience until now, eat what is offered to images* as sacrifice, and because their conscience bothers them,* they are condoned.
8. Food, however, does not bring us close to God. For not because we eat, we become enriched, and not because we do not eat [the sacrificial offering] we become impoverished.
9. However, see to it that your ritual* does not become a stumbling block for the sick.
10. For if a person* sees you performing the ritual, feasting at the temple of idols, would not his conscience, since he is sick, justify that he should eat that which is sacrificed?
11. And if you thus fool your brethren, and beat down their ailing consciences, you are ridiculing Christ.
13. Because of this, if food upsets my brother, I will never* eat meat again, so as I may not upset my brother.

1 Corinthians 9
1. Am I not the son of the free? Or am I not an apostle? Or did I not see our Lord Jesus Christ? Or are you not servants in my Lord?
2. And if to others I am not an apostle, at least I have you,* and you are the proof* of my apostleship.
3. And I rebuke in spirit those who judge me,*
4. "Why, are we not permitted to eat and drink?"
5. And, "Why, are we not permitted to have a sister, a wife going around with us, like other apostles, and like our Lord's brothers, and like Keepa [Peter]?"
6. Or, is it perhaps only I and Barnabas that have no authority to work?
7. Who engages the labor of others for his own personal benefit?* Or, who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or, who tends a flock and does not drink of their milk?*
8. Then what, do I say these things as a human being? Behold, even the Law says these things.
9. For it is written in the Law of Moses,"Do not ride the threshing ox."
Why, is God wondering over an ox?
10. Except, he conveys this knowledge for our sake, for it is written [in Scriptures,]"Because of hope and not the extraction of the bean."*
And he who threshes, does so in the hope of the result.11. Since we planted* the Spirit in you, is it too much [to ask] that we should harvest a body from you?
12. And if others have no power over you, is it not more so in our case? Except we do not become worthy by this power here, except by everything for which we hope, so that nothing may obscure the hope for Christ.
13. Do you not know that those who work in the temple,* are preached to at the temple, and those that work for the altar, serve* themselves with the sacrificed offering?
14. Likewise, our Lord has commanded, that those who preach the Hope [of his Kingdom,] shall Live through that Hope.*
15. I, however, am neither worthy of any of these, nor did I write that I shall be thus rewarded. For it is best that I shall die, rather than a single person should deprive me of my pride.*
16. For even though I preach, I do not have pride, for I am bound under obligation. Woe to me then if I do not preach [the Kingdom.]
17. For if I undertake this oath willingly, I have a recompense. If, however, I do this not by my own willingness, then I am assuming the lordship of the household.
18. What is then my recompense? As I preach, without pay, I worship the hope of Christ, and not because I am worthy through the authority that was given to me by the Revelation of God.*
19. For as I am freed from all, I submit myself to every human being, so that I may have influence on many.
20. And I am with Jews like a Jew, so that I may affect the Jews, and I act like a man under the Law, so I may have an affect on those who are under the Law.
21. And to those who have no Law, I became like one without a Law, while I am not without Law with respect to God, except through the Law of Christ, so that even on those who have no Law, I may have influence.
22. I am with the sick like I am sick, so I may affect the sick. To every human being, whoever they may be, I am a brother.
23. This then I do, so I may participate in the preaching of the hope [of the Kingdom.]
24. Do you not know that those who run in the stadium are all running, except only one becomes victorious?* Run thus so as to complete the course.
25. For every human being who takes part in a race, takes his mind off of everything else. And they run to win a perishable wreath, however, we, a nonperishable one.
26. I, therefore, run thus, not like toward an unknown thing. And I thus wrestle, not like someone who wrestles with the air.
27. Except it is my own body that I muster and train,* so that when I preach to others, I do not embarrass myself.*

1 Corinthians 10
1. I want you to know then, brethren, that our ancestors were all under the cloud, and all of them passed through the sea,
2. And all of them were baptized through Moses, by the cloud and by the sea.
3. And all of them ate one spiritual food,
4. And all of them drank one spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual stone that was coming with them. The stone, however, was Christ.
5. Except God was not satisfied with most of them. For they failed in the wilderness.*
6. They, however, became an example for us. So as not to desire evil doing as they did.
7. And neither to create idols,* such as some of them did, as it is written [in Scriptures,]"The people sat down to eat and drink,
and they rose to carouse." 8. Nor to fornicate, as some of them did, and in a single day there fell twenty-three thousand of them.
9. Nor to test Christ, as some of them did, and were sent to oblivion by snakes.
10. Nor to bicker, as some of them did, and destroyed each other with their own hands.
11. All these things that befell them, were written of [in Scriptures] for the sake of our education,* so that in the end we may attain eternal life.*
12. Henceforth, whoever hopes to Rise, should be careful not to fail.
13. No temptation shall overtake you, except that of human beings. For God is Faithful, that He shall not abandon you, so as to be subject to more temptation than you are able to overcome, except He shall make the trial into an exodus, which shall impart for you the hope [of the Kingdom.]*
14. Because of this, my beloved, run away from the deeds performed for idols.
15. I speak for the wise, judge what I am saying.
16. The cup of faith that we blessed, was it not of communion with the blood of Christ? And the bread that we broke, was it not of communion with the body of Christ?
17. Whereas thus one was the Bread, so then we are all one body. For we were all nourished by that one Bread.
18. Look at Israel of the flesh. Did they not, those that ate of the sacrifices, become associated with the altar?
19. What am I saying therefore, that the idols are something, or the sacrifices to idols are something? No.
20. Except, what the pagans offer as sacrifices, are really offerings to demons, and not to God. Thus, I do not wish that you become associated with demons.
21. You cannot drink our Lord's cup and the demons cup, and you cannot celebrate in the feast* of our Lord and the feast of the demons.
22. Or, what, can we outdo our Lord in forbearance?* Why, are we sharper than him?
23. Everything is permitted for me to do, except not everything has a positive outcome. Everything is permitted for me to do, except not everything is constructive.
24. No person should only want what is only for themselves, except also every person [should want this] for their companion.
25. Whatever is sold by the grocer, eat it without being self-conscious.
26. For the Lord has supplied everything on this earth.
27. If a person then, from the pagans invites you, and you are willing to go, everything that is consecrated before you, eat it without being self-conscious.
28. If a person tells you, however, "This was offered in sacrifice, do not eat it," it is because he told you that and because of [his] conscience.
29. The conscience then, I say, was not yours, except of the one who told you this. For wherefore is my freedom judged by the conscience of others?
30. If I have been justified through grace, why would I blaspheme against the thing I confess?
31. If you thus eat and if you drink, and whatever you do, do it to the glory of God.
32. So as there will be no stumbling block for the Jews or the Aramaic speaking people,* and the church of God.
33. Just like I praise through everything every human being, and I do not want anything for my own self,* except that something should come out of this for the multitude that they may Live [eternally.]

1 Corinthians 11
1. Identify with me, whereas I also with Christ.
2. I glorify you then, brethren, that you rewarded me through everything, and whereas you submitted to instructions*, holding fast to them.
3. I want you to know, that Christ is every man's head [among you,] and a man is a wife's head [among you,] and Christ is the Godhead.
4. Every man who prays or prophesies while his head is covered, humbles his head.
5. And every woman who prays or prophesies while her head is uncovered, humbles her head, for she is in the same position as [the woman] whose hair has been shaven.
6. For if a woman does not cover [her head,] let her then* have it trimmed. If, however, the woman's hair was ceremoniously* shorn or shaved, then let her cover it.
7. For a man is not under obligation to cover his head, for he is in the likeness and for the glory of God. The woman, however, is the glory of the man.
8. For a man is not of the woman, except the woman is of the man.
9. For neither is the man born because of the woman, except the woman because of the man.
10. Because of this the woman is obligated to cover her hair,* in honor* of the angels.
11. However, then, neither is a man inferior* to a woman, nor is a woman inferior to a man, in our Lord.
12. For, whereas a woman is for the man, likewise a man is for the woman.* Everything then is from God.
13. Judge yourselves among yourselves. Does it suit a woman to pray to God while her head is uncovered? Is it becoming to a woman to pray to God while her head is bare?
14. Does not even nature teach you that when a man's hair grows, it is an oath for him?
15. And a woman when her hair grows long, it is her glory, because her hair was given to her as a covering.*
16. If a person takes issue with these [instructions,] we neither have such a custom governing us, nor does the church of God.
17. This that I instruct you with is not like I am glorifying you, because you are not making progress, except you are regressing further down.
18. For before you gather in church, there are divisions among you I have heard. I believe there are a few problems.*
19. For you are destined to even have trouble makers between you, so that those that remain among you shall become known.
20. When you thus assemble, you eat and drink not as it is a blessed day of our Lord.
21. Except every person beforehand eats their supper, and there are those who are hungry and those who are drunk.*
22. Why, do you not have homes where you can eat and drink? Or is it that you want to have fun in the church of God and embarrass those who have nothing? What am I telling you? Are we glorified? By this we are glorified.
23. For I received from one Lord that which I entrust to you, that our Lord Jesus, on the night that he was to be delivered, consecrated the bread,
24. And he blessed it and broke it, and he said, "Eat your fill,* this is my body that is broken on your behalf. Do likewise as a memorial to me."
25. Likewise after they ate supper, he also gave them the cup, and he said, "This is the cup of the New Covenant in my Blood. Do likewise, whenever you drink as a memorial to me."
26. For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, it is the death of our Lord that you are declaring until His second coming.
27. Those who thus eat of the bread of our Lord and drink of his cup, and they are not worthy of him, become responsible for the blood of the Lord and his body.
28. Because of this a human being should take stock of himself and then eat of that bread and drink of this cup.
29. For whoever eats and drinks of him while unworthy, they are eating and drinking of that obligation, as they did not choose the body of the Lord.
30. Because of this many among you are in pain and sick, and many are asleep.
31. For if we do not sit in judgment of others, we will not be judged.
32. However, since we are beholden to our Lord, we have been truly approved, so we will not be found responsible, together with the world.
33. Brethren, when you assemble to eat, strengthen one another.
34. Whoever then comes hungry from their home, let them eat, so as your assembling does not turn to irresponsibility. About other things, I will instruct you when I come.

1 Corinthians 12
1. Regarding spiritual matters then, I want you to know, brethren,
2. You have been pagans, and idols, those that have no voice, you have acquired indiscriminantly.
3. That is why I declare to you, no human being can speak through the Spirit of God and say that Jesus condemns, and neither can a human being say that Jesus is Lord, except through the holy Spirit.
4. There are then [many] divisions of gifts, except there is One Spirit.
5. And there are [many] divisions of services, except there is One Lord.
6. And there are [many] divisions of powers, except there is One God who makes each human being perform [a particular one.]
7. To certain human beings* He has given the revelation of Spirit so as to help them.
8. To some He has given through the Spirit the manifestation of wisdom, to others the manifestation of knowledge through the Spirit.
9. To others, faith through the Spirit, to others, the gift of healing through the Spirit,
10. To others, however, excellence in languages, to others then the interpretation of languages.
11. All these, however, are bequeathed by that One Spirit, and she divides them as she wishes.
12. For the body has one constitution, and yet it has many members, all of which, however, are members of one body, while they are numerous; they are one body of Christ likewise.
13. For we also were baptized in one Spirit as one body, whether Jews or Aramaic [speaking peoples] or slaves* or children of the free,* and we all drank of one Spirit.
14. Even the body is not one member except many.
15. For if the leg says that because it is not a hand, therefore it is not part of the body, and then because of this does it become less a part of the body?
16. And if the ear says, as it is not the eye that it is not part of the body, and then because of this, does it becomes less a part of the body?
17. For if the whole body were an eye, where would hearing be? And if [the whole body] were hearing, where would smell be?
18. If they were all individual members, where would the body be?
20. Even though there are many members, however there is one body.
21. The eye cannot tell the ear, "I do not want you." Neither the head can tell the legs, "I do not want you."
22. Except the members that need the most ministering are the ones needed the most.*
23. And those that we minister to, that are bequeathed to the body, to these we pay more homage, and those that are of modesty, we clothe more elaborately.
24. Those members among us then, whom we honor, need no homage. For God married the body together,* and He gave them greater honor to those smaller members,
25. So there would be no division in the body, except all the members as they deserve should be at peace one with another,
26. So when one member is in need,* all of them should be sad, and if one member is glorified, all the members should be glorified.
27. You are, therefore, the body of Christ and members in your [proper] place.
28. For God consecrated in his church, first apostles, later prophets, teachers, performers of works, later the gifts of healing, ministering, leaders and linguists.
29. Why not all apostles? Why not all prophets? Why not all teachers? Why not all performers of power?
30. Why did not all have the gift of healing? Why did not all speak different tongues? Or why did not all interpret?
31. If you are then endowed with great gifts, I will show you once more a prosperous way.

1 Corinthians 13
1. If I speak in every human language and that of the angels, and yet I have no love in me, it is as though I were like bronze that reverberates or cymbals that make noise.
2. And if there is in me prophesy and I know all the sermons and have all knowledge, and if there was in me all the faith, whereas I could move a mountain, and yet there was no love in me, I would be nothing.
3. And if I fed everything to the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, and yet there was no love in me, I would again be nothing.
4. Love transforms the spirit and fulfills it. Love is not bigoted. Love does not burden, nor curry favor.
5. And [love] does not set conditions and does not act selfishly, and it does not find fault,*
6. And [love] does not rejoice in abomination, except delights in sincerity.
7. [Love] ministers to everything, trusts in everything, wherever there is hope, wherever there is sacrifice.
8. Love never fails. For prophesy comes to pass,* and tongues are silenced, and knowledge comes to naught.
9. For we learn so little of the whole [picture] and prophesy so little of the whole [matter.]
10. When maturity comes, however, then that little part becomes insignificant.
11. When you were a boy, you spoke as a boy and you perceived as a boy, and you thought as a boy. Then when you became a man, you set aside childish things.
12. Now, however, we see as in a vision, like a reflection, where we stand face to face with ourselves.* Now we know the small from the great, whereas now I know what you know.
13. These three [things] are what binds us together: faith, hope and love. The greater of which is love.

1 Corinthians 14
1. Pursue love and take on the gifts of the Spirit, moreover then that you may prophesy.
2. For whoever speaks in the language,* is not speaking to humanity, except to God. For no human being hears what they say, except they express the sermon through the Spirit.
3. Those then who prophesy, they speak to humanity, constructive, heartfelt and eloquent.
4. Whoever speaks in tongues, they fortify themselves, and whoever prophesies, they build a church.
5. I wish then that you all speak in tongues, more so that you may prophesy. For they are greater that prophesy than those who speak in tongues but without interpretation.* If, however, there is interpretation, then a congregation is formed.
6. And now, brethren, if I came and spoke to you in tongues, how will I enrich you, except if I speak to you [plainly,] or through revelation, knowledge, prophesy or learning?
7. Even speaking of those things that have no soul, that make sounds, whether flute or guitar, if we cannot distinguish between the song of one with its accompaniment, how will one know what is sung and what is strummed?
8. And if the horn sounds are indistinguishable, who will heed the call of battle?
9. Likewise you too, if you proclaim the manifestation with your tongue and it cannot be interpreted, how will what you are saying be understood? You will be like someone speaking to the air.
10. For behold there are many types of languages in the world, and there is not one without a voice.
11. And if I do not know the intent of a voice, I am a barbarian to the one who utters it, and likewise the one who speaks, to me he is a barbarian.
12. Likewise, you also, because you are fervent toward the endowments of the Spirit in building the Church, may you increase in number.*
13. And the one who speaks with the tongue should pray so as to be clear.*
14. For if it happens that I pray with the tongue, it is my spirit that is praying, however, as far as I know, [my prayers] are fruitless.
15. Therefore, when I worship, I pray in my spirit and I also pray in my mind,* and I sing in my spirit and also in my mind.
16. And if not, if you are blessed in spirit, He who compliments* the domain of gifts, how shall He say Amen over your faith? This is why I say that you do not understand.
17. For you are well* blessed [in spirit then,] except your companion [who hears you] does not gain anything.*
18. I confess to God that I speak in tongues more than any of you.
19. Except in the church I wish to speak five words that make sense, so I can also teach others, rather than a myriad of words in tongues.
20. Brethren, do not be children in your outlook, except stand heroic* against evil and be mature in your opinions.
21. It is written in the Law that,"With foreign speech and in another tongue, shall His nation speak to this people,
Even so they will not listen to me," said the Lord."22. Therefore, tongues were consecrated for miracles, not for believers, except for those that did not believe. Prophesies, however, were not for those that did not believe, except for those that did believe.
23. If thus gathers the whole church and they all speak in tongues, and there enters those who know nothing or those that do not believe, will they not say what possesses them?
24. And if you are all prophesying and there enters one that knows nothing or that does not believe, he will feel inadequate and traitorous
25. And the secrets of his heart will be revealed and then he falls on his face,* and worships God and says, "Truly, God is in you."
26. I say thus, brethren, that when you gather, whoever of you has a psalm, tell it, and whoever has knowledge and whoever has a revelation and whoever has a tongue, and whoever has an interpretation -- all these that are modes of expression.*
27. And if a person speaks in a tongue, it is two who speak. And as they increase, three. And they speak one at a time,* and one interprets.
28. And if there is no interpreter, let him that speaks in tongues remain silent and let him speak between himself and God.
29. Prophets, however, speak two or three at a time and the rest should choose what to hear.*
30. And if it is to someone else who sits there, [a prophesy] is revealed, let the first one quiet down.
31. For you should be able to all prophesy one by one, so that each person may learn and each person may prophesy.
32. For the spirit of prophets submits to the prophets.
33. Because God is not the God of turmoil, except of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
34. Your women should be silent in the church. For they are not permitted to speak in tongues, except to worship, such as the Law also states.
35. And if there is something they wish to learn, they should ask their husbands at home. It is embarrassing for a woman to speak in tongues in the church.
36. Or, why then, is it from you that the Manifestation of God did emerge?* Or did he reach you alone?
37. If then a person from you preaches as a prophet or as one who is from the Spirit, they shall know that these [words] that I write you are the commandments of our Lord.*
38. If a person does not know [something,] they cannot make it known.
39. Therefore, brethren, be thus zealous toward prophesy and to those who speak in tongue, let them be.
40. Everything then proceeds according to plan and doctrine.

1 Corinthians 15
1. I declare to you then, brethren, the Revelation of the Kingdom, of Whom I preached to you and which you accepted and upheld.
2. And through Him you Live, whereas it was the Manifestation that proffered [the Kingdom,] if you are confirmed, if you did not believe in idle manner.
3. For I delivered to you from the beginning that which I received, that Jesus died on behalf of our sins, as is written [in Scriptures,]
4. That he was buried and rose within three days, as is written [in Scriptures.]
5. And He appeared to Keepa [Peter] and after him to the Twelve.
6. And afterwards He appeared to five hundred brethren together, most of whom stand with us until now and some that are in repose.
7. And after them, He appeared to Jacob and after him to all the apostles.
8. After all of them, in closing, He appeared to me also.
9. I am [the one] who is the smallest of the apostles, because I persecuted the church of God.
10. However, because of the grace of God, I have what I have, and His grace for me is not misplaced, except it is more precious for me than to all the others, not that it is I [who makes it precious,] except because it is His grace that is with me.
11. If I thus and if they thus preached, then you should thus believe also.
12. If then, Christ preached that He rose from the dead, how can there be persons among you that say there is no life after death?*
13. And if there is no life after death then neither did Christ arise.
14. And if Jesus did not arise, preaching [the message] is in vain, and your faith has become empty also.
15. And we have been found to be even false witnesses of God, that we testified over God who raised Christ while he did not.
16. For if the dead do not arise, neither did Christ.
17. And if Christ did not arise, your faith has been voided, and hence you are still in your sins.
18. And, therefore, also those who reposed in Christ went to oblivion.
19. And if through these [false pretenses] we preached everlasting life through Christ, we are the most dispossessed of all humanity.
20. However now, Christ has risen from the dead and is the Awakening of the Reposed.
21. And whereas death was wrought by the hands of the human being, likewise the resurrection of the dead is brought about through the human being.
22. For whereas through Adam all humanity died, likewise through Christ all of them shall Live.
23. Every human being* according to their endurance [in Faith], their Awakening is in Christ, after which those who are in Christ at His Coming.
24. And then it will be the End, when the Kingdom is in submission to God the Father, when all leadership and all authority and all powers are nullified.
25. For he was destined to reign till all his enemies were consecrated under his feet.
26. And the last enemy he nullified is death.
27. For everyone is in submission under his feet. What was Said then, that everything is under his submission, was recognizable as that which was dictated from whom all shall submit to.
28. And when all are in submission to him, that is when they become the Son that is in submission to Him who is worshipped by all, so that he becomes God all in all.
29. And if not, what shall they do these [people] who are being baptized as sacrament for the dead,* if the dead did not arise? Why are they being baptized as sacrament for the dead?
30. And why are we also living* in fear every hour?
31. I swear by your pride, brethren, that which I have [also in] that I did in our Lord Jesus Christ every day.
32. If according to humanity, we sacrifice animals in Ephesus, how are we gratified if the dead arise not? We eat and drink for in the end we will all die.
33. Do not lose yourselves. Corrupt ideas bring about sinful lusts.
34. Focus your heart blessedly and do not sin. For there are people that have no knowledge of God. I say this to their shame.
35. Some persons among you will say, "How will the dead arise?" And with what body will they come?
36. Foolishness -- the seed* that you sow, if it does not die it will not live.
37. And that which you planted, was not the body that was destined to be born that you planted, except it was a single grain of wheat or some other seed.
38. God then gives it the body that He wills. And to each of the plants the body according to their nature.
39. It is not whatever body that suits it. For it is another body for the human being and a different one for the animal and another one for the bird and a different one for the fish.
40. And there are heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies. Except heavenly glory is different and earthly glory is another thing.
41. And the glory of the sun is different, and another thing that of the moon, and the glory of the stars is different, and one star is greater in glory than another star.
42. Likewise also the resurrection of the dead. They are buried* in throes of pain and arise without the throes of pain.
43. They are buried in agony, they arise in glory. They are buried with illness, they arise is strength.
44. The body that has soul is buried, there arises a body with spirit. For there is the body for the soul and there is the body of the spirit.
45. Likewise it is written [in Scriptures,]
"Adam was the first human being to draw the breath of life,
and the last Adam is the life giving spirit."
46. Except [that breath] was not beforehand of the spirit, except of the soul, and thereafter of the spirit.
47. The first human being was soil from the earth; the second human being was the Lord from heaven.
48. He that was of soil was to those that were also from soil, just as He that was from heaven was to those who were from heaven.*
49. And as we bore the likeness of the one from the soil, likewise we shall bear the likeness of the One from heaven.
50. This I say, however, brethren, that the Kingdom of Heaven can neither be inherited by flesh and blood, nor is the outcome of corruption but through pain.*
51. Behold, I will tell you a sermon. Even though we all repose, however, we are all transformed.
52. Suddenly, in a blink of an eye, as the last horn is sounding and the dead arise without the throes of pain, we shall become transformed.
53. For it was destined that here he should suffer the throes [of death,] so as to take on [the attire of] the unvanquishable. And that here he should die, so as to take on [the robes of] the immortal.
54. However, when here he took on [the appearance of] the perishable, it was not defeat, and when he died, it was not extinction; therefore, he fulfilled the Manifestation that was written [of in Scriptures,] that he swallowed Death in victory.55. "Where is your sting, death,
and where is your victory, sheol?"56. The sting of death, however, is that sin, and the impact of sin is the Law.
57. Accept God's grace,* however, who gave us victory by the hand of our Lord Jesus Christ.
58. From now on, my brethren and my beloved, be confirmed in truth and do not be shaken, except prosper in every season by serving the Lord, as you know that your labor on behalf of the Lord is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 16
1. Regarding that which is gathered for the saints, as I have instructed the churches of the Galatians, you also do the same.
2. Every Sunday, each one of you in their home should consecrate and guard whatever reaches their hands, so that when I come you are not holding elections.
3. And when I come to those whom you have elected, I shall send them with a letter to take your donations to Jerusalem.
4. If then it is fitting for that benefaction that I should also go, they can go with me.
5. Then I will be coming to you when I pass along Macedonia. For I would be passing by Macedonia.
6. And maybe I will stay a while or winter with you, so you may escort me when I am about to go.
7. For I do not wish to see you now as someone passing through.* I expect to remain a season with you, if my Lord permits me.
8. For I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost.
9. For many doors have opened to me that are full of charity, and [yet] there are many difficulties.
10. If then Timothy comes to help you, see to it that there is no strife among you, for he is the servant of the Lord who worked with me.
11. Therefore, let no one exploit him. Except tend to his needs peacefully, so he may come to me, for I will set him up with the brethren.
12. Regarding Apollos then, my brethren, I wanted him very much to come to you with the brethren. Perhaps it was not his wish to come; however, when he feels like it, he will come to you.
13. Be watchful and hold fast in faith, grow and prosper.
14. And let all your conversations be in love.
15. I beg of you, brethren, regarding the house of Stephanus, because you know that they are the leaders of Achaia, and they consecrated themselves in the service of the saints,
16. That you also be responsive toward [the saints,] and to every person who provides sustenance and assistance with us.
17. I am delighted with the donations of Stephanus and Fortunatus and Achaicus, as they made up for my shortcomings which you may have had towards me.
18. For they put my spirit and yours at peace. You should show recognition for such people.
19. All the churches in Asia say shalom.* Saying many shaloms, in Christ, Aquila and Priscilla, together with the church in their house.
20. Saying shalom are all the brethren. Say shalom one to the other with holy kisses.
21. I send you shalom in this letter, written by my hand, Paul.
22. Whoever gives not blessings to our Lord Jesus Christ, shall be anathematized. Our Lord is come.
23. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
24. And my love with you all in Christ Jesus, amen.(End of the First Letter to the Corinthians which was written from Phillipi of Macedonia.)
