1. And the staff emerges from the trunk of
Eashai*
and the nugget branches out
from its root;
2. And there shall rest
and settle upon him the Spirit of God,
the
Spirit of Wisdom and Knowledge,
the
Spirit of Providence and Greatness,
the
Spirit of Understanding and Submission to the Lord;
3.
And he shall ascend from the East*
with his Lord's assumptions,*
and he judges neither according to what his
eyes see,
nor does he prune according to
what his ears hear.
4. He shall judge the
poor with justice
and he shall cut down
the evil-doers of the world
with
perfection;*
he shall strike the earth
with the rule* of his mouth,
and with the
Spirit of His Lips he shall slay the depraved.
5.
Holiness shall be what girds his back,
and
faith what holds together his sides.
6.
The wolf shall live with the ram,
the
tiger shall grow up with the goat,
just
as the calf, the Lion's cub and the ox --
they
shall graze together,
and a small child
shall take care of them.
7. The cow and
the bear shall graze together
as though
they were one,
and their offspring shall
grow up together
like they were one,
and
the lion shall eat hay* like the ox.
8.
And the boy dares to approach the coiled snake
and
in plain view of the cobra he extends his hand to touch it.
9.
Neither shall evil befall them,
nor shall
they suffer pain in all my holy mountain,
because
the earth shall be filled
by the
knowledge of the Lord,
as water covers
the sea.
10. And on that Day,
the
Root of Eashai* that rises
shall
be a sign to the nations,
and to him the
nations shall hold fast,
and his fine
garments shall be their honor.
11. And on
that Day,
the Lord redoubles the sweep of
his hand,
to regain those of his people
that were left behind,
from the Land of
Ashur, Missryn*, Petros,*
Kush,* Elam, Saer,* Khammath,*
and
the Islands of the Sea.
12. And he shall
raise signs to the nations
and gather the
lost of Israel and the scattered of Judah
from
the four corners of the earth.*
13. And
the zeal shall pass from Ephraim,
and the
oppressors of Judah shall depart;
Ephraim
shall not uphold Judah,
and Judah shall
not oppress Ephraim.
14. Thus they fell
upon the shoulders
of the Philistines by
the Sea,
and as one they divided the
spoils of war
between the Easterners;
they
stretched their hands toward Edom and Moab,
and
the Ammorites heeded them.
15. And the
Lord destroyed the tongue of the sea
that
was in Egypt,
and he raised his hand over
the river
that was under the mastery of
his Spirit,
and he struck the seven
torrents,
so as the crossing could be
made on sandals.
16. And he became the
tributary for many of his people
that had
remained in the land of Ashur,
as it was
for Israel on the Day
when they came up
from the land of Egypt.
