Hebrews 2
1. Because of that we are responsible to be more alert regarding what we
have heard, so as not to fall [from grace.]
2. For if the Manifestation announced by the angels was confirmed, and
whoever heard it ignored it and received their recompense grudgingly,
3. How can we escape if we denigrate the everlasting life? For [the angels]
that began with the announcement about our Lord and of those things that
they heard from Him, also confirmed them to us,
4. As God testified regarding them through signs and wonders and by the
transforming power and by the distribution of the holy Spirit, that was
given according to His will.
5. It was not so that the world should worship the angels that we were
destined to speak regarding Him, therefore,
6. Except as the Scripture testifies, saying,
"Who is man that You should have remembered him,
For whom the Son of Man should have been condemned?"*
7. "What angels can even approach Him even a little,
Glory and honor You consecrated on His head,
And You gave Him authority by the work of Your own hands,
8. "And everything You made to worship under His feet.
So as everything should worship Him,
There would be none left that would not worship Him."
9. He is, then, very little like the angels, for we have seen that He is Eashoa
because of the Passion of His death, and the glory and honor that was
consecrated on His head is, therefore, imposed by God in tasting death on
behalf of every human being.
10. For it was providential that to Whom everything was given and for Whom
all was made, that He should allow in many children to His glory, that they
should cherish the Lord of their Salvation through His Passion.*
11. For He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from the same
One. Because of that He is not embarrassed to call them brothers and
sisters,*
12. As He said,
"I shall preach your name to my brothers and sisters,
And in the midst of the Church I shall glorify you."
13. And again,
"Myself and the children that are given to me by God."
14. For as the children partake in His flesh and blood, so also He shall
make God* a partaker in their death through Him, so as He shall annihilate
through death the one who has sole authority over death, that being Satan,
15. And so as He may release those who, being under submission to death all
their lives, worshipped through their works.
16. For He did not descend from the angels, except of the seed of Abraham.*
17. It was because of that He was sanctified, that He may resemble His
brothers and sisters in every way, so that He may be master of the king
priests, those who are of God's faith, and that He may obliterate the sins
of the nation.
18. For in that He Sorrowed and was tempted, He was able to help those who
fell under temptation.
*2:6 Lit. Ar. poetic construction: "Who is the man that You remembered
and the Son of Man that You pledged?"
*2:10 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "To the head of their [eternal]
Life by Sorrow to preserve."
*2:11 Lit. Ar. id.: "Brethren."
*2:14 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "Him."
*2:16.1 Lit. Ar. idiomatic construction: "For it was not from the
angels that He planted, except from the seed of Abraham that He
planted."
