Exodus 33
1. The Lord commanded Moses, "Rise and
depart from here, you and your people that you brought out of Egypt, go to the
land that I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and said to them that it is for
your offspring* that I give it.
2. "And I shall send an angel before you,
who shall uproot* the Canaanites, Ammorites, Hittite, Perizzites, Hivites and
Jebusites,*
3. "To a land that flows with milk and
honey, for I shall not go up with you,* because you are a stiff-necked*
people; I might annihilate* you on the way."
4. However, the people perceived this as an
evil appraisal;* they were upset, so the men did not take up their weapons.
5. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Tell the
House of Israel that you are a stiff-necked people; if I were to rise* one
hour among you, I would annihilate* you; that you removed your weapons from
you, I know what to do with you."
6. [As of that time,] at Mount Horeb,* the men
removed their weapons from them.
7. Moses took his tent and pitched it outside
the encampment, a certain distance from the encampment,* and he called it the
Tabernacle of Ages, so that whoever wished to ask anything of the Lord had to
leave the encampment to do so.
8. And when Moses went out to his tent, all the
people rose and set* themselves at the entrance of their tents, and they gazed
after Moses until he entered his tent.
9. And when Moses went into his tent, the
column of clouds would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent and speak
to Moses.
10. And the entire nation saw the column of
clouds that stood at the entrance of the tent, thus every man stood at the
entrance of his tent and worshipped.
11. And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face,*
as a man speaks to his friend. [Moses] would return to the encampment, but his
assistant* Hosea Bar Nun,* who was a young boy, would not leave the tent.
12. Then Moses said to the Lord, "Behold,* you told
me to bring up this nation but you did not show me who you were sending with
me, and you said that I shall know you by name and also, 'find mercy in my
eyes.'
13. "Now, if I have found mercy in your eyes, show me
your way and I will know you,* because I have found mercy in your eyes and see
that this nation is your nation and it is a great nation."

14. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Go before me and I
shall give you rest."
15. [Moses] said to Him, "If you do not go with us, I am
not leaving here.*
16. "How am I supposed to know otherwise that I have
found mercy in your eyes, I and your nation, if you were not to go with us,*
and if we were not different, I and your nation, from all the nations that are
on the face of the earth?"
17. The Lord said to Moses, "Then I will do exactly as
you said,* because you have found mercy in my eyes and I have known you by
name."*
18. Then [Moses] said to Him, "Show me your glory."
19. [The Lord] said, however, "I have performed all my
grace before you and called out the name of the Lord before you; I will
recognize* whom I recognize* and be merciful to whom I will be merciful.
20. "You cannot see my face, however," He said,
"because no man can see my face and live."*
21. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Behold, the land*
before me stands upon sheer rock.
22. "And when my glory* passes you by, I shall consecrate
you in the gorge* of the rock and I shall lower my hand over you until I pass.
23. "Then my hand shall pass you by and you shall see my
back, but my face is not to be seen."

Exodus 34
1. Then the Lord commanded Moses, "Cut* two stone
tablets like before and write upon the tablets the doctrines* that were upon
the first tablets, which were broken.
2. "And be prepared* in the morning to go up to Mount
Sinai, in the morning, and stand there at the top of the mountain.
3. "Neither shall a man go up there with you, nor shall
any herd animals or bulls graze in front of that mountain."
4. He cut two tablets of stone like the first time; then
Moses got up in the morning and climbed Mount Sinai as the Lord had commanded
him, and he held the two tablets of stone in his hand.
5. And the Lord descended in a cloud and stood with him
there and called the name of the Lord.*
6. The Lord, then, passed before him, and the Lord declared, "The Lord is Merciful, Gracious, Generous* of Spirit -- His Grace and Zeal
are bountiful;
7. "Who safeguards grace for thousands of generations,* who
forgives sins and obligations, but who absolutely does not sanctify* [those
who sin and fail their duties;] however, He does command the love of parents
upon their children and upon their children's children, to the third and
fourth generations."
8. Moses rushed ahead and fell to the ground and worshipped,
9. And he said, "If I have found mercy in your eyes,
Lord, let my Lord go among us, because this is a stiff-necked nation, so as to
forgive us our dereliction of duty, our sins and our intentions."
10. Thus He said, "Behold, I shall establish a covenant
in front of all your people, and differentiate them in so many ways, such as
no one has ever done anything like it on earth for anyone among my nations,
and the entire nation here shall see that you are the instrument, the servant
of the Lord, that what I will perform through you shall be fear-inspiring.
11. "Guard* what I command you daily; behold the
Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hevites and Jebusites lie in ruins
before you.*
12. "Beware that you do not adopt the covenant* of
those who occupy* the land you go to, lest they should be an obstacle to you.
13. "Dig up their altars, break their monuments* and
strike down their idols.*
14. "Do not worship another God, because the Lord's
name is Devoted,* for He is the God of Devotion.
15. "Do not make a covenant* with the inhabitants of
the earth, lest they be misled* through their feasts, make sacrifices to their
gods, and they may call on you and you end up eating of their offerings.
16. "Neither take from their daughters for your sons
[in marriage,] nor forsake* your daughter to their gods, [who will in turn]
forsake* your sons* to their gods.
17. "You shall not make sculptured gods for yourselves.
18. "You shall observe and celebrate the feast of the
Unleavened Bread. You shall eat unleavened bread as I have commanded you, in
the season of the Seed Planting month, for it was during the month of the Seed
Planting that I liberated you from Egypt.
19. "Whoever opens the womb is mine, and every
first-born male offspring of your animals, cattle and sheep,*
20. "And every first-born of an animal shall be
redeemed by a ram, but if you cannot redeem by a ram, if you cannot redeem
him you shall be killing him; every first-born of your children shall be
redeemed, so as you shall not appear before me unredeemed.*
21. "For Six Days you shall work and on the Seventh Day
you shall rest, you shall rest from sowing and harvesting.
22. "You shall make for yourself holidays of sevenths:*
the beginning* of the wheat harvest and the Dance* of Anticipation* at the
emergence of the [New] Year.
23. "Three seasons in a year your offerings shall be
seen before the Lord.*
24. "For the nations shall lay in ruins before you and
your territory shall widen; no man shall desire your land when you go up to be seen
before the Lord God on those three occasions* per year.
25. "You shall neither slaughter upon the curdled blood
of sacrifice,* nor shall you wait until the morning to eat* the Passover
Feast* Sacrifice.
26. "The top* of your land's crop you shall bring to
the house of your Lord God. Nor you shall cook the goat's kid in its
mother's milk"
27. Then, the Lord said to Moses, "Write down these
doctrines,* because these are the doctrines with which I have entered into a
covenant with you, and [indeed] a covenant with all of Israel."
28. And there he was with the Lord for forty days* and forty
nights, neither eating bread, nor drinking water. Thus he wrote on the tablets
of stone the words of the covenant,* the ten doctrines.*
29. And as Moses descended from Mount Sinai, he held two Tablets of
Testimony in his hand. As Moses descended, he did not realize that the skin of
his face was still glowing from having spoken with Him.
30. Then Aaron and all Israel saw the face of Moses. The skin of Moses'
face glowed, and they were afraid of approaching him.
31. Moses called to them, then they came to him, Aaron and all the leaders
of the synagogue,* and Moses spoke with them.
32. Then there approached him all the Children of Israel, and Moses gave
them the commandments that the Lord had delivered* to him on Mount Sinai.
33. When Moses spoke with them later he would wear a veil over his face.*
34. Hence when Moses entered before the Lord to speak with Him, he would
take off the veil until he left [the tabernacle,] after which he would go out
and tell the Children of Israel what he was commanded.
35. However, the Children of Israel had seen the face of Moses, how the
skin of his face had glowed; Moses would remove the veil from his face when he
spoke with the Lord.*

Exodus 35
1. Moses gathered the entire congregation of the Children of
Israel and said to them, "These are the doctrines that the Lord commands
you to perform.
2. "Six Days you shall do your work but the Seventh Day
shall be sanctified* -- the Sabbath is for rest -- it shall be sanctified for the
Lord;* whatever is done in it, that work shall be dead.*
3. "You shall not make a fire [for cooking] in any
house in which you might be residing on the Sabbath Day."
4. Then Moses said to the entire congregation of the
Children of Israel, "These are the doctrines* that the Lord commands they be
done:
5. "Set aside your portion for the Lord from among you,
every man who sets it in his heart to bring his portion for the Lord -- gold,
silver and bronze;
6. "Also, weaves of purple thread, crimson cloth,
weaves of linen and goat's hair;
7. "And the skins of the rams of Isphiniqah, the skins
of Sasjoonah and the wood of acacia.
8. "And oil for kindling the light and incense as
anointing oil,
9. "Stones of beryl and stones of adherents* for the
ephod and the coverings.*
10. "Let all the craftsmen* among you, who have it in
their hearts, come out and perform all that the Lord has commanded;
11. "The Tabernacle and its furnishings,* top,* beams,
sides, bars, columns, and floor;
12. "The ark and its vessels, the sacrificial [altar,]
and the tapestry of its front* entrance;
13. "The [Bread of the Offering] table and its
vessels,* together with all its bowls,* and the Bread that is baked;
14. "The menorah by which they kindle the light* and
its vessels, its lamps and the oil that they burn* in it;
15. "The Altar of the Sweet-smelling [Incense]* and its
vessels, the Oil of Anointing,* the Smell of Incense, and the Tapestry
covering the entrance to the Tabernacle;
16. "The Altar of Holocausts, its grate of bronze and its handle;
17. "The panels of the courtyard, its polls and its furnishings, the
tapestries of the entrance and the courtyard;
18. "The stakes of the Tabernacle and the doorway stakes, and their
ropes;
19. "The vestments of service, to serve the sacraments, the sanctified
vestments of Aaron the high priest, and the vestments of his sons, [the
vestments] of high priesthood."
20. Then the entire congregation of the Children of Israel emerged from
before* the Lord,
21. And every man brought according to his heart, and every man brought
according to his spirit -- they brought their share* to the Lord, to make the
Tabernacle of Ages, all its works, and the holy vestments.
22. The men, together with the women, brought whatever was in their heart
to bring; they brought brooches, earrings, rings, necklaces, and various
vessels of gold -- and whatever item of gold that each man chose to bring as
the Lord's share.
23. Every man who found purple weaves, scarlet, and crimson yarn, linen,
and goat's hair, the skin of rams of Espiniqah and the skin of Sasjawaneh --
they brought them.
24. "Whoever chooses a portion of silver and bronze, let them bring
that share to the Lord; and whoever finds [in his possession] acacia wood that
can be used for whatever task, let them bring it.
25. "Every wife who is mature of heart, whose hands are good with
spinning, let her bring [her tools] so she can spin the purple weaves, the
scarlet, the crimson yarn and the weaved linen.
26. "All the women who have it in their hearts that have the talent of
spinning [goat's] hair;
27. "And the leaders,* let them bring the stones of beryl, and the
stones of adherence,* for the ephods and the covers;*
28. "Incense and oil for the kindling of the lamps,* and the oil of
anointing, and the scent of incense,
29. "And every husband and wife who have it in their hearts, let them
bring every skill that the Lord commanded to be done by the hand of Moses --
let the Children of Israel bring as their share for the Lord."
30. Then Moses said to the Children of Israel, "Notice that the Lord
called Baçle-eil* son of Uri son of Khoor,* from the dynasty of Judah,
31. "And He filled him with the Spirit of God, through wisdom,
learning and knowledge, and through every skill,*
32. "To be imbued with the talent* of working with gold, silver and
bronze;
33. "The masonry of the Stones of Adherence and the carpentry of
goods, for the work of every artist and craftsman;
34. "And he put it in their hearts to teach, he and Eliahiv,* son of
Akhismakh* from the dynasty of Dan;
35. "They are all to be filled with the wisdom of heart, to perform
every task: carpentry, artistry, sewing and weaving with purple and scarlet
[threads]; [making] the cloth and the linens in crimson and embroidering every
piece* and crafting every work of art."

Exodus 36
1. And this they did, Baçle-eil and Eil-yahiv, and every
man with wisdom in their hearts, whom the Lord had given the wisdom and the
skill to perform all the tasks of the hallowed edifice, according to what the
Lord had commanded.
2. Moses, then, called on Baçle-eil and Eil-yahiv, and
every man with a willing heart, to whom the Lord had given the wisdom of
heart, each according to their hearts, to offer and do the tasks that they
were meant to do.
3. And they took from before Moses all the contributions
that the Children of Israel had brought for the building of the Tabernacle of
Ages, and they continued to bring it to him from morning to morning.*
4. Then there came all the craftsmen* who made the objects used
for worship,* every individual* who performed these tasks.
5. They said to Moses, "There are too many people
bringing [contributions,] more than is necessary for the work that the Lord
commanded to be done."
6. Then Moses gave the order and they called the heralds* in
the encampment, and they announced that the men and women* should no longer
contribute objects for worship, and then finally the people stopped bringing
them.
7. There were enough contributions that it was possible to
perform every task that was needed and to accomplish it.
8. Thus they made -- all the wise of heart
and the artisans of craft -- the tabernacle from ten sheets of woven linen and
twined purple threads, scarlet and crimson cloth, with cherubs embroidered
into the material, that is what they made.
9. The length of each sheet they made twenty-eight
arm-lengths and its width they made four arm-lengths, and all of them
measured the same.
10. So they joined five sheets together as one, and they
joined five sheets one to another.
11. Then they made ties of purple thread from the edge of
one sheet, from the side that it was to be held, and likewise they did from
the edge of the other sheet from the other side that was to be held.
12. Thus, they made fifty ties for every panel and fifty
ties for the other side so that the ties were facing one another.
13. Then they made fifty rings of gold, and they joined the
panels one to another with the rings, and the tabernacle became a unified
chamber.*
14. They made panels of hair to cover the tabernacle; they
made eleven of them.
15. The length of one panel was thirty arm-lengths and its
width four arm-lengths, that was the measure of each of the eleven panels.
16. Thus they joined the five panels together and the other six panels together.
17. Then they made the ties, fifty ties on the edge of the
panel from the side that was joined, and they made fifty ties on the other edge
of the side that was joined.
18. They made fifty fasteners of bronze for joining the
tabernacle into one [structure.]
19. And they made a cover for the tabernacle from the rams
of Ispineeqah, and it was inlaid with the [skins of] Sasjawaneh from above.
20. Then they made sidings for the tabernacle of acacia
wood, [these would be] the standing [panels,]
21. Ten arm-lengths was the length of each siding and one
and a half arm-lengths was the width of each siding.
22. Two were tied to one side and two were tied to the other
side; they were made to fit one another -- this is what they did to all the
sidings of the tabernacle.
23. Then they made the sidings for the tabernacle, twenty sidings to one
row [facing] the Spirit of the South;
24. And they made forty studs of silver beneath the twenty sidings; they
made two studs below the one siding for each of its joints and two studs below
the other siding for its two joints.
25. And for the other side of the tabernacle, the side [facing] the Spirit
of the North, they made twenty sidings.
26. And forty studs of silver, with two studs under one siding, and two
studs under the other siding.
27. And for the edges* of the tabernacle, from the West, they made six
sidings.
28. They made two sidings for the corners of the tabernacle at its edges.*
29. They were secured from below, and as one the two wings came together
with their heads going through one ring, thus they did to the two [sections
of] each of the corners.
30. So there were eight sidings, and their fasteners* were made of silver;
there were sixteen of the, two fasteners below the one side and two fasteners
below the other side.
31. Then they made posts of acacia wood, five for the one side of the
tabernacle,
32. And five posts for the other side of the tabernacle, and five posts for
the sides of the tabernacle's edges* from the West.
33. They made central posts to go through the sidings from one side to the
other.
34. Then the sidings were inlaid* with gold, and their rings were made of
gold, like the four posts; they plated all the posts with gold.
35. They made coverings of woven purple threads, scarlet, crimson linens,
and interweaved cloth, made by artisans, with embroidered* cherubs.
36. They made for it four poles of acacia wood; they plated them in gold,
together with their receptacles, and they made four fasteners of silver for
them.
37. They made a tapestry for the door of the tabernacle, of weaved purple
[threads,] of scarlet yarn, and of weaved cloth, the work of emblem [makers.]
38. The poles were five and their receptacles were five; their tops were
plated with gold and in their entirety they were plated with gold, and their
fasteners* were also five and made of bronze.
