The Basis for Christianity

Money cannot be the basis for Christianity.

Millions of people in the West think that Capitalism is the most progressive form of government, the closest one to Biblical teachings. This view is supported by the Western Churches and the European and American cultures. The strength of the Capitalist System is in the fact that everything can be judged by its monetary worth, and this produces a society that can function in an orderly fashion. The weakness of the Capitalist System is in its lack of moral standards, because Jesus said, "my kingdom is not of this world," and, therefore, according to Capitalism, Christianity should not be concerned with what is or is not of value in this world, only monetary considerations can determine that.

Power cannot be the basis for Christianity.

The Islamic Extremists think that they can defeat Capitalism by destroying the power of the West. The Nazis tried to kill all the Jews in Europe in order to terrorize the West and bring Europe under their fascist rule. The Islamic Extremists have succeeded beyond the Nazis because there is essentially only the US that is still willing to put up the fight against them. With the weakening of American resolve to defend Christianity and the freedom of religion, the Terrorists need only to await a liberal US President and they will attain the power to annhiliate Christianity altogether. The strength of the Islamic Extremists is in their reliance on one moral code, which is the Qur'an in the Arabic language, not subject to interpretation by different cultures. The weakness of the Islamic Extremists is their intolerance of other religions. One may suppose that once they kill all the Jews, they will kill all the Christians, and ultimately all the other religions as well.

Justice cannot be the basis for Christianity.

Most of the world believes that justice means democracy, equality and fairness for everyone, regardless of race, religion, place of origin, and gender. The strength of democracy is in its dividing of food, property and money to all people according to a fair of system of work and compensation. Thus there have always been socialist systems that operate well until the money runs out or one country comes into conflict with another country based on disparities in standards of living. The weakness of human justice is that sometimes there is no way to decide who shall be fed, clothed, sheltered and provided for first. Every nationality opts to choose their own side first, and this eventually leads to war between nations and between even members of one family.

Only Jesus is the basis for Christianity.

Jesus said, "my kingdom is not of this world." No money, no power, no justice can save a person or a nation from death. When it comes down to it, only Jesus and what he taught can save a person from dying a miserable death. When a man dies, he realises that he is about to lose everything that was of value in this world. He realises that if there is an afterlife, then he cannot take anything with him. When a woman dies she also realises that there is nothing she can take with her, except for what she feels about her children. However, she knows everything in this world will come to an end as soon as she stops breathing. The strength of Christianity is in the hope that there is another life, a life of the spirit that is limitless and, therefore, eternal. Jesus taught about the kingdom of heaven and how everyone may attain eternal life. The weakness of Christianity is in not knowing for sure that there is an afterlife. Nevertheless, only Jesus offers the freedom for a person to choose eternal life before earthly death occurs, and the choice is not based on what a person does in this life, but on his or her faith.
